RAJOURI, Oct 19: In order to check the menace of traffic rules violations, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) conducted a special drive here today. A checking team led by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri Jugal Kishore Sharma and Inspector Amit Bhasin carried out extensive drive.
During the drive, the menace of violations on road was dealt with a strict hand. All types of offences/offenders were booked for traffic violations under different sections of Motor Vehicle Act which included driving without licenses and other valid documents, contravention of route permit, over speeding and dangerous driving with a special focus on overloaded goods and passenger vehicles.
The day long checking on various vulnerable points between Rajouri and Sunderbani led to the realization of compounded amount of Rs 20000 while 15 vehicles were challaned which is expected to add another Rs 10000. The strict enforcement also led to the seizure of two vehicles.
