Early Times Report

jammu, Oct 19: Expressing concerns over the fresh reservation row, the Social Movement Party (SMP) today alleged that the present PDP-BJP Coalition Government is working against the interests of the common masses as well as employees of the J&K State.
In a press conference held on the issue "Reservation in Professional Colleges & Direct Recruitments, Promotions and Backlog Quota, the National Secretary General SMP Ashok Kumar Basotra alleged that the present PDP-BJP Coalition Government is working against the interests of the common masses as well as employees of the J&K State when it comes to the cause of under privileged people.
"The Constitution of India provides that the opportunity is a fundamental right of all the citizens of India, but the present Coalition Government is using this policy to deprive the Aboriginal Indigenous Indians viz. SCs, STs, OBCs, he added.
Referring to the concerns about upper castes in India vis-à-vis State of J&K, he said all such classes/castes that as soon as SMP would come into power in J&K State as well as in Centre, SMP shall abrogate the present system of reservation in favour of SCs, STs & OBCs completely and shall implement a new system of reservation in favour of so called upper castes strictly as per their population percentage. "They would get 9% reservation in professional colleges & direct recruitments, promotions with backlog quota and rest 91% of the seats/posts shall be thrown open to all the remaining population which is constituted of Aboriginal Indigenous Indians viz. SCs, STs, OBCs, he suggested.
Basotra disclosed this new policy of his party and stated that SMP is inspired by one of the greatest leaders of India namely Perrier E. V. Ramaswamy whose political party viz. "Justice Party" remained in power in Madras before independence. Basotra also expressed serious concern to the recent verdict of the Apex Court with respect to appointment of High Court & Supreme Court Judges and stated that there exists no provision of Collegiums in the Constitution of India.
Dayal Singh, Dheeraj Thapa, Ajit Kumar Vashishath, Dr Jeet Raj Bazala, Ghulam Mohammed Bedar, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah, Hem Raj Phonsa, Des Raj Yadav, Ajid Hussain, Parshotam Kumar, Dr Bodh Raj Bawa, Ms Madhu Bala, Ms Rattna Bawa, Sarwan Kumar Kundal, Bansi Lal Chargotra, Jai Paul, Ms. Purshotama Kumari, Ajay Jagotra, Bharat Bhushan and Kanwarjeet Sethi were also present in this media interaction.
