Accountability in air:

Early Times Report

Rajouri , Oct 19: Believe it or not but it's true that some teachers appointed at Govt Primary School in remote Rajouri brushing aside 'accountability' not only were withdrawing financial benefits as well as Mid Day Meal (MDM) Ration for 48 students illegally against the actual enrollment of the students which is barely eight (8). CEO Rajouri attached two teachers and initiated prone in the matter.
Sources within education department revealed this saying that the incident was reported from Govt Primary School Sujjbuglla (Mangota) under jurisdiction of Thanamandi Education Zone and after internal inquiry initiated by the Chief Education Officer (CEO), temporarily has attached the school with High School at Mangota.
Ch Altaf Hussain, CEO Rajouri vide official order No CEOR/16409-12 dt 19/10/15 also has directed the headmaster of Govt High School Mangota to conduct inquiry into Mid Day Meal (MDM) ration received and its cooking cost, carriage cost etc, besides details of funds and scholarships and also directed to furnish detailed report within 7 days for further action in this matter.
Reliable sources said that one Mushtaq Mohd , member Village Education Committee (VEC) Mangota Zone lodged a complaint with the Chief Education Officer (CEO) demanding to club the Primary School, Sujjbuglla with High School at Mangota as it has only 8 students enrolled while two teachers were appointed were misappropriating the funds/MDM ration by showing over 40 students enrolled.
On the directions from the CEO Rajouri to authenticate the complaint lodged by VEC member, Headmaster Govt High School Mangota paid surprise visit to aforesaid Govt Primary School and found only eight students present in the school.
Headmaster , after contacting some locals and parents and after on-spot verification submitted his report to CEO Rajouri confirming that only 8 students were enrolled in the school further adding that complaints of MDM and misuse of funds were also genuine.
Pertinently as per Education Department order all the primary schools in the state having less than 20 enrollment are to be attached with the nearest schools yet in Rajouri district the order is being violated at many places reasons better known to the some vested interested elements including local politicians. Few schools with more than 20 students were clubbed while many schools like Sujjbuglla having less enrolment (below10) are running just to pilferage MDM funds, scholarships and other funds in nexus with some officials from Zonal Education department
"After inquiry report action under rules/regulations would be taken against the two teachers who were also attached with High School Mangota" said CEO Ch Altaf Hussain.
