Centre-State govt applying different yardsticks to deal with different offenders on Beef row: Harsh | | | early times report Jammu, Oct 21: Condemning the Central and State Government for their double standards and application of different yard sticks for dealing with different offenders on Beef row, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP has sought the immediate arrest of MLA Er. Rashid for the highly felonious acts committed by him which had further sparked communal tension all across the country. Lambasting government for the immunity granted to Er. Rashid and his projection as a victim with the Deputy Chief Minister even tendering unconditional apology to him in the Assembly, Singh questioned the relevance of criminal jurisprudence in the BJP rule. He said that during Amar Nath ji land agitation in 2008 those carrying National Flags were booked and were still facing trial for the last several years. He further said that the act of those who threw ink on Rashid's face could at best be described as misdemeanor as against the highly felonious, culpable acts of Er. Rashid but still the former were arrested and the latter granted remission. He further said that the delinquent legislators' conduct and criminal acts attracted at least ten provisions of the Ranbir Penal Code but BJP-PDP was shockingly still allowing him open space to preach hatred. Seeking registration of criminal cases against the malefactor, he sought immediate arrest of MLA Rashid for persistently and brazenly defying the law of the land in full public view under various provisions of Ranbir Penal Code. Singh maintained that many of the aforesaid offences would invite penalty of imprisonment ranging from 5 years to 10 years and eventually entail disqualification upon the defiant lawmaker. |
