Slaps student, VC suspends 3 students | JU Professor plays `goon' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 21: The Jammu University's decision of putting three students affiliated with the ABVP under suspension has evoked much ridicule. The people are critical of banning a girl student from entering the girls' hostel. "Where will she go? The hostel is the only abode for her in Jammu," said a concerned student adding that the authorities first allowed the ABVP conference and later banned it. "This conference has always been held in the campus over the past many years," she said. She said the students are aghast over manhandling of a student by a professor in presence of the police. "He slapped the student. It has been videographed and will be used as evidence against the erring professor," she said. Following the scuffle, the university put three students Kanav Sharma (Department of Law), Yogindu Sharma alias Madhu Sharma (Department of Law) and Deepak Gupta (Law School) under suspension. Pertinent to mention, the suspension orders were served without giving the students an opportunity of being heard. The order vide JU/DSW/15/7414-24 dated Oct 19th 2015 putting three students under suspension, students believe is unwarranted and unjustified. It is in place to mention here that the students had invited Delhi University Student Union President, Satender Awana for the event. The students told Early Times that internal bickerings between the teachers led to the unfortunate suspension of three students. |
