Focus on prevention of crime in society: Sayeed to police 10/21/2015 11:38:44 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 21: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today asked police to focus on prevention of crime in the society besides dealing with law and order problems. "Law and order should not be your only focus. Police should also focus on prevention of crime by strengthening prosecution wing so that the criminals do not go scot-free," Sayeed said at the Police Martyrs' Commemorative Day at Zewan, 15 kms from here. The state was facing the challenge of rising drug addiction, violence against women and other crimes are taking root in the society, Sayeed said. The Police Commemorative Day is observed in memory of the 10 gallant CRPF personnel who laid down their lives while repulsing Chinese aggression at Hot Springs in Ladakh in 1959. Immediately upon the Chief Minister's arrival, a Roll of Honour was presented in memory of policemen who laid down their lives in the line of duty during the past one year. Sayeed also laid floral wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial.
