Let US intervene & prevent Pak from committing hara-kiri | | | Once again Pakistan has renewed its threat of using nuclear weapons in case of some conflict with India. Hope the ;latest threat of using nuclear weapons against India is taken note by Washington in view of Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif's upcoming visit to the US where he would hold talks with the American President Barack Obama. This time the threat of using the nuclear weapons has not come from any senior Army functionary in Islamabad but from the Pakistan's foreign secretary whose statement should be considered to have the backing of the Army authorities and of Prime Minister,Nawaz Sharif. The foreign secretary,Aizaz Chaudhry has said thatPakistan has made low-yield nuclear weapons to bridge the gap for war that India had created through its cold-start doctrine . This is the first concrete explanation from a senior Pakistani official on how Islamabad plans to deal with New Delhi's so-called cold-start doctrine, now renamed the proactive strategy . It also is a rare confession of Pakistan's decision to make tactical nuclear weapons to deal with the possible threat of an Indian aggression. Chaudhry's statement, rather threat, seems to be laced with doubtful intentions in the way a country makes an announcement that it had plans on using nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes and for power generation. He has said that Pakistan's nuclear programme is one dimensional: stopping Indian aggression before it happens. It is not for starting a war. It is for deterrence . Explaining India's cold-start doctrine, Chaudhry said under this strategy India had already moved its cantonments close to the Pakistani border. This allowed India also to move its conventional weapons close to Pakistan along with other vehicles and fuel supplies.By drastically reducing the time required to launch an aggression against Pakistan, India had "created a space for war," Chaudhry said. He explained that Pakistan's "low-yield, tactical nuclear weapons" would make it difficult for India to launch a war against Pakistan while remaining under the nuclear threshold. Where is India's threat of starting a war against Pakistan ? Even the well wishers of Pakistan do not find any sign of this threat. What has amazed political and security experts is the way Islamabad has termed upgrading of the security grid on the LOC and on the IB in Jammu and Kashmir as moving of cantonments close to the border. The cantonments stand located and situated where they were 40 to 60 years ago. Even when India has been fighting Pakistan sponsored proxy war in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 25 years New Delhi has never introduced the element of aggression by launching a war against Pakistan.Yes,if after the 1965 and 1971 there was some conflict between the two sides it was on the heights of Kargil. And the world knows it that the breezy ware started soon after Pakistani troops had occupied unmanned Indian posts on the Kargil heights. And mark the border scene during the last one year. Pakistani troops have resorted to repeated ceasefire violations which has forced the Indian Army to upgrade the security grid and the border management because the main aim behind the repeated ceasefire violations was to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir. And if the strengthening of border management is being termed as India's war preparation it is fantastic. It seems to be part of the Pak plan on justifying its scheme of having added number of nuclear weapons. It is hoped the Washington in particular and the developed nations in general take cognizance of the damaging aspect of Pakistan's nuclear programme so that these super powers intervene and stop Islamabad from committing a hara-kiri. |
