Jammu, Oct 21: In view of coming festive season ahead, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone Danesh Rana today said tight security arrangements have been made at all religious places for smooth celebrations. ''Festive season is on as Navratras are going to end tomorrow, which will be followed by Dussehra, Diwali but our security arrangements are in place for smooth conduct of celebrations,'' Rana told reporters here at the sidelines of a function wherein tributes were paid to the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir Police Department at Police Memorial here. The IG said, security arrangements have also been reviewed for Muharram starting from October 23. He said, ''Apart from highways and border, we will ensure foolproof security arrangements at all the religious places,'' adding that, ''as Darbar move offices will also re-open in the winter capital on November 9 but prior to that, special arrangements of security have been made on the national highway.'' ''There is affixed drill for this matter and it will be reviewed from time to time,'' the IG asserted. Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Dilbagh Singh said, ''As a part of Police Martyrs Day, a function was organised here and we are remembering them as heroes of the nation.'' He said, tributes were paid to the jawans, who sacrificed their lives for the country while serving in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in which members of civil society, police besides their families also participated. ''We really get inspired from the families of the martyrs, who despite facing hard times after losing their loved ones, keep on moving in life,'' said the ADGP. He, however, said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department always stand by their side and at the time of need, help them by providing free education to their children, health facilities and also financial assistance from police welfare fund. |
