KVK holds demonstrations on oats at Battru 10/21/2015 11:49:09 PM Early Times Report Doda, Oct 21: Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on oats crop for Rabi 2015-16 were laid out by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), at village Battru of District Doda. The demonstration was held under the guidance of Directorate of extension SKUAST-J. Team of scientists from KVK Doda headed by Dr RS Bandral, comprising of Dr. Narinder Paul, Dr. Amit Charak and Dr GN Jha guided the farmers in laying out these demonstrations aimed at demonstrating the potentialities of the production technologies of oats as fodder in comparison to the existing farmer practices of the village at farmers' fields, generate the production data and get feedback about potentialities and associated constraints. Dr. Amit Singh Charak educated the farmers about scientific cultivation practices of oats with proper land preparation, seed rate, method of sowing, nutrient management and stressed upon FLD farmers to undertake scientific cultivation of oats to ensure assured availability of green fodder for cattle during winter season in this hilly district. Dr Narinder Paul briefed the farmers about their roles and responsibilities during the entire process of the demonstrations and their contribution in disseminating the proved technologies having desirable impact among the farmers so as to generate a significant extension impact for popularization of the scientific production technologies in the district.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
