Jassa Bhatti lifts Baba Kailakh Dangal | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 8 : Wrestler Jassa Bhatti of Punjab wins the final bout of Baba Kailakh Dev Dangal held at Thathar Bantalab on Sunday. He was awarded with cash prize and other prizes. Shamsher Singh Manhas, MP Rajya Sabha was chief guest while Minister for Social Welfare and Forest Bali Bhagat and Minister for Public Health Engineering, Sukhnandan Choudhary were guest of honour. Jassa Bhatti beat JKP wrestler Beenia Ameen in final bout while Abdul Gani of Maler kotla beat Birju of Delhi in 2nd big bout with cash prize of one lac. Baba Kailkah Dev Dangal committee also distributed cash prizes to wrestlers of different bouts. Wrestlers from J&K and other states took part in dangal. On this occasion, Shamsher Singh Manhas, MP Rajya Sabha inaugurated the Dangal with enlighting the traditional lamp. Jassa Bhatti of Punjab beat JKP Jagroop of wrestler Beenia Ameen in tough bout with point system. Both wrestlers tried their best to beat rival. Using wrestling techniques, Jassa beat Beenia and clinched the first title. He was awarded with cash of Rs 60 thousand. Committee also give cash prize of Rs 40 thousand to runner Beenia. Bout between Abdul Gani of Punjab and Birju of Delhi consumed specified time. Both used wrestling techneques but no one beat each other. Dangal committee then decided their fate with toss and Abdul Gani won the toss and bout with cash prize of 60 thousand and 40 thousand to runner up Birju. Third big bout was won by Bhupinder Ajnala by beating Birju of Delhi of Rs 81 thousand. Shamsher Singh Manhas, MP Rajya Sabha hailed the efforts of Dangal Committee by promoting rural sports. He said both state and centre govt is keen to promote sports activities to encourage youths. Participting in sports activities too grooming the future of youth. Speaking on the occasion, Bali Bhagat said that various reformative steps are being taken by the government for making available all necessary sports facilities to the players of the state. Bhagat while appreciating the organizers for conducting the competition said that such type of events should be organized frequently especially in rural areas as it would help in nurturing the sports talent of rural youth. The Minister said besides construction of playfields at block and panchayat level the Government has also taken up various mega projects to develop modern sports infrastructure to facilitate the youth. He described sports as best medicines to channelize energies of youth in a right direction. |
