In Kashmir, PM Modi didn't talk about displaced Kashmiri Hindus | 'Don't give me any advice' | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 8: The persecuted, oppressed and hounded out from the Valley members of minority community of Kashmiri Hindus, like all in Jammu, had hoped that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reflect on their pain, sufferings and miseries and announce a comprehensive political package for them. They had expected that he would say a word on the demand of the displaced Kashmiri Hindus seeking a separate homeland for them within the Valley invested with Union Territory status, but he left them in the lurch by not uttering a word of sympathy for the victims of fanaticism and Islamic terrorism. On the contrary, he only sung the same old monotonous Kashmiriyat song, which cleansed the entire Valley of almost all the nationalists almost 27 years ago. His assertion that "India was incomplete without Kashmiriyat" was nothing but an attempt on his part to rub salt on the wounds of the displaced Kashmiri community. It was, in fact, an affront to their self-respect. The internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus consider Kashmiriyat responsible for their persecution and exodus from their original habitat. They had repeatedly said that they wanted a separate homeland in the Valley so that they could lead a secure, dignified and empowered life there and save their religion and culture in an environment where the Indian Constitution flows freely. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did refer to the displaced community of Kashmiri Hindus but at Ramban and what he said was nothing but a vague suggestion that they and refugees from Pakistan were on his priority list. He did not say anything concrete which could conciliate them or reassure them that his government was with them and he will set-in-motion a process in the Valley to isolate and punish those in the Valley who threw them out of Kashmir to convert it into a one-community region for furthering their dubious agenda. The fact of the matter is that he let down the internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus by advocating the Vajpayee formula or by preaching the break-India Musharraf formula. Indeed, the Prime Minister failed the suffering Kashmiri Hindus like he failed others in Jammu who have been demanding justice since 1947. What irked everyone on Jammu, including the internally-displaced Kashmir Hindus was his unwarranted statement that "no one should advise his as far as Kashmir is concerned". |
