Mufti to emerge stronger after Bihar debacle | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 8: The results of the Bihar elections could put Mufti Sayeed in a better position to deal with the BJP. The BJP is likely to be mellowed down much after the 'humiliating' defeat. The BJP it appeared was too much assertive after Mufti Sayeed formed an alliance with it in the 'interest' of the State. The party was taking 'ultra-nationalist' posturing and was seen to be blaming PDP for every either Pakistani flag hosting or separatists tendencies in the valley. An impression was gaining ground that Mufti Sayeed is succumbing to the BJP for the sake of the power and this perception was exploited by the opposition. The results in BJP have shaken the BJP especially the core team, which was calling shots on all the things including on Jammu and Kashmir. the party would now like to give more space to the Mufti Sayeed as his alliance is very crucial for the party first on account of having a government in the Jammu and Kashmir and secondly to showcase to the world that it's a party in power in the only Muslim majority State in the country. It will give more leeway to the Mufti Sayeed to go ahead with the governance on his liking and also on political decisions. "The CM has on many occasions clearly objected to the insistence of the BJP Minister of posting officers on 'religious' considerations, though he was cautious also. Now the CM can clearly tell them in the-face that the Bihar results are an example how the religious card can be a self-goal and this would put the BJP on the back steps," said the sources. They said the CM would not make more calls and political statements about involving separatists in the dialogue and resumption of stalled Indo-Pak dialgoue with an eye on the Kashmir and PM may follow him also. |
