Dabaang lady SSP raids Kathua restaurant Arrests couples for sitting at a public place 11/9/2015 12:15:55 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 8: Led by a lady SSP, Police authorities in Kathua have switched over to moral policing, only to be left embarrassed in the process. A police team led by over enthusiastic SSP raided a restaurant in the district and rounded up few young couples who were present there. Done in haste without proper inputs, the move has albeit invited more criticism than applause as it boomeranged leaving police red faced. Sources said on November 3 a police team led by SSP Neeva Jain suddenly raided a restaurant and picked up all the young couples who were seated in the main hall of the place. In the swift action all the picked up couples were taken to Police station where most of the couples turned out to be in genuine relations, a couple of them engaged to each other, sources said. The couples became easy targets for the enthusiastic cop who despite being a lady herself indulged in the harsh action particularly against the females who were rounded up for the sole reason of sitting with male acquaintances or relatives, sources said. Sources further said the 'over enthusiastic' female Police officer was told by her subordinate colleagues that the move of sudden raid was unwarranted as it was a public place where they were seated which amounted to no offence but she did not pay any heed to this advice and barged into the restaurant premises apparently to teach a lesson of morality to the young couples. But this action of moral policing has proved to be counterproductive for the lady cop as none was found to indulging in any illegal activity. No fingers were raised in fact towards the couples sources said adding that on the contrary it made some cops to cut a sorry figure before the relatives and acquaintances of the youth who took serious notice of the unwanted police action, sources said.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
