No rent fixed for shops allotted by SMGSH since 1940
Proposal to fix rent gathers dust in DC office

Jammu, Nov 8: Due to lackadaisical approach of administration of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu, resulted huge loss to the hospital’s exchequers, as no rent was fixed for two shops rented out to medical fair price shops of Super Bazar (cooperative) for past 75 years. Moreover, currently the administration of SMGS hospital is charging only Rs. 3000 as rent from both shops for last three or four years.
However, the administration claimed that the matter of assessment the rent of both shops has been taken with Deputy Commissioner who is also Chairman District Level Committee of Rent Assessment of Shops Jammu but sadly the letter has been gathering dust in the DC office for last three years.
Sources told Early Times that two medical fair shops of cooperative had established since 1940 in the premises of SMGS hospital Jammu but then no fixed or appropriately rent is being charged from the shops.
Reportedly, nominal charge (Rs. 1500 per shop) has been taken by adminsration of hospital last three years and also a letter vide number MS/Fair Price Shops/06/6625-29 dated 16-02-2011, had sent to Deputy Commissioner Jammu but all in vain.
“Since 2011, number of DCs of Jammu were transferred and repeatedly letters and reminders were sent to DC Jammu to assessment of rent of two medical fair price shops at SMGS Hospital Jammu but neither assessment committee was made nor rent was fixed due to which huge loss to the hospital’s exchequers and failed to utilize the amount for the improvement of the hospital and patient care, “Sources claimed.
A document which in possession of Early Times stated that last times the administration of the hospital written letter vide number SMGS/PS/20176-79 dated 12-3-2015 to Deputy Commissioner Jammu and request for assessment of rent of the same and matter may be treated as most urgent but no assessment of rent has been made so far.
Medical Superintendent of SMGS Hospital Jammu Dr. Dara Singh admitted and said that repeatedly letters had been sent to Deputy Commissioners since 2011 but no rent has fixed by him so far due to administration failed to take accurately rent from them and utilized the same for hospital development.
“This issue is not in my knowledge, let me check first then i will comment on the issue, “Says Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh when contacted.
