Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 8: The University of Jammu has constituted another committee to probe allegations of undue benefits extended by the then Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, superseding recommendations committee.
Well-placed sources told Early Times it seems that the Vice Chancellor is trying to save skin of 'tainted' Director CDC University, who inserted his opinion in the noting to give undue monetary benefits to Dr Susheel Sharma, Department of Physics and Electronics, as another committee comprising four members, has been constituted.
"Headed by Prof Kulwant Singh, the committee has three more members including Prof Anju Bhasin and Assistant Registrar Teaching Wing, the committee was constituted on October 30", sources said, adding that Head Department of Physics and Electronics submitted his dissent to JU administration over undue benefits extended to Dr Sushil.
They further said that earlier in 2014, a committee had given its recommendations the matter was to be put in syndicate meeting. "Due to known reasons, the recommendations were tabled in Syndicate meeting, and bypassing statuary body of the university, the matter was forwarded to Financial Advisor, but no further action has been taken", they added.
"Jai Kumar Sharma, then Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, superseding the decision remarked on the note sheet that retrospective effect to Dr Sushil Sharma be granted from November 1, 2006", sources claimed.
They further said that matter was sent back to the same committee and got the earlier decision changed and committee recommended that the referred period of Dr Sharma as may be counted for promotion purposes under CAS.
"The decision had an advisory mandate to be referred to the University Syndicate for consideration as it was a case of promotion without holding the selection committee. Jai Kumar Sharma, however, crossed all limits and inserted in his noting as SSVC that monetary benefits also be granted to Dr Sharma", they said.
