| Higher Education Deptt succumbs to arm twisting | | Several College Principals manage choice postings | | Akshay Azad

Jammu, Nov 8: The officials of Higher Education Department and the Minister has reportedly succumbed to the pulls and pressures from various quarters by effecting transfers of few politically affluent Principals to their choicest places.
Though it is still unclear as to who are the beneficiaries of the political influence and who are transferred as a routine matter but several college principals have started picking holes in the transfer order of 19 college Principals issued on October 30.
Pleading anonymity College Principals informed Early Times that Netar Singh who was transferred from GDC Billawar to his home town Kathua was transferred only after 16 months of his posting, while as Banwari Lal Gupta who was posted as Nodal Officer Cluster University Jammu has been also transferred only after 16 months.
Moreover, Sohan Lal who was earlier transferred after nearly an year to GDC Bani, but had not joined there and has been now posted at GDC Basohli.
Nissar Ahmed Yatoo was transferred from GDC Tangmarg to GDC Gurej, but his transfer order was issued within a span of only one year, while Fayaz Ahmed Mir was transferred from GDC Sumbal to GDC Tangmarg in a span of only three months, since his last posting.
Shafqat Hussain Rafiq, who was attached in Administrative department, was transferred to GDC Kishtwar despite the fact that he was not allowed to complete even two years tenure in the place of his last posting in Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) due to political intervention.
Suresh Kumar, who had completed his tenure in Leh but was kept attached in GGM Science College Jammu for nearly two years and now has been posted in GDC Billawar.
Bashir Ahmed Mir has been transferred from GDC DH Pora and posted at GDC Gool. Sources informed that Mir's native town was Pampore and earlier he was posted at GDC Nowshera and later transferred to DH Pora and once again he has been transferred to GDC Gool, which is very much far from his home town.
SK Magotra was earlier transferred to GDC Nowshera but had not joined there and now he has been asked to report to Project Director RUSA Jammu.
Shakeel Ahmed Raina is now posted at GDC Thanamandi. "Earlier Raina was transferred to GDC Zanskar but had not joined there and his transfer order was modified and is now posted in Thanamandi", sources said.
Sources alleged that though there were only 95 posts of College Principals but at present there were 101 College Principals, who have been drawing salaries. "Three Principals are already attached in RUSA office Jammu and three Principals in RUSA office Srinagar and according to above said order, Rafia Rashid is also promoted as Principal", sources said, adding that it was still unknown from where salaries were being drawn.
Sources further alleged that the transfer order was issued on October 30, but on that day Commissioner Secretary of Higher Education department was in New Delhi for a meeting. |
