Army Jawan martyred in cross border firing in Rajouri
11/23/2015 11:28:53 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 23: An army jawan has attained martyrdom here today while manning the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district in second of this type since September this year. Beasides two army jawans a Border Security Force (BSF) Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) too has fell victim to Pak firing.
According to sources, a patrol party of Madras unit manning the LoC in Nowshera tehsil, was targeted either by the Pakistan soldiers or by the infiltrators early this morning and the Indian side effectively retaliated but sepoy Subineesh of Kerla received critical bullet injuries.
"He was immediately rescued to the hospital at Nowshera Brigade HQs but succumbed to fatal injuries during air lifting process to Command Hospital at Udhampur, sources added.
Lt Col Manish Mehta, Jammu based Defence spokesman said that our patrol party was fired upon by terrorist/inimical elements close to the LoC in the forward areas in Noushera sector and in the ensuing fire fight one soldier was injured and attained martyrdom while being evacuated to the Army Hospital.
Here it needs to mention that despite several flag meetings held on Line of Control (LoC) to reduce the tension on the LoC, the Pakistan army time and again has been violating the ceasefire agreement agreed in November 2003.
In 2015 Pakistan army continued to violate the Truce agreement intermittently and it resorted to heavy shelling and firing in the Balakot sector in Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district in month of August and during 6-7 days long both the sides suffered heavy loss and Pakistan was forced to come on the table ( for Flag meeting). Six civilians were killed in the Balakot Sector on August 15 -16.
Thereafter on September 21, top commanders of both the armies held a Flag Meeting at Chakan-da-Bagh with an attempt to defuse tension on the LoC.
If recalled here a Para Commando Lance Naik Govind Singh attained martyrdom on October 14 this year while he was engaged in foiling an attempt by the terrorist to enter the Indian soil in Balnoi sector supported by Pakistan Army in which one militant was also killed and other managed to retrieve to PoK . On September 13 Sohan Lal, ASI with 163 BSF Bn manning a post in Tarkundi sector in Rajouri district also attained martyrdom when a mortar shell fired by Pakistan army fell near his forward post.
Pertinently last year in Aug-Sept after heaviest firing/shelling for more than 40 days on the Line of Control , a Flag Meeting was organized at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch district to defuse the tension which also affected the cross LoC trade and bus service was also suspended for many days.
