PDP Minister goes out of way to accommodate Mumbai based company From Pratap Park to SK Park 11/24/2015 12:45:56 AM Majid Nabi Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 23: Misusing his official position, a senior PDP Minister after assigning refurbishment of Pratap Park to a Mumbai based company has purportedly chosen the same group for re-enactment of Sheri Kashmir Municipal Park without any formal order. Sources said the minister has once again flouted the norms by approving multi crore renovation project of Sheri-KashmirPark to the said company without any formal order. Pertinent to mention here that Sheri-Kashmir Park is located at the front of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters at Residency Road here. The park which has its historical implications of being the epicenter of political activities ever since the state was merged with Union of India speaks volumes about the official negligence vis-à-vis its renovation after suffering severe damages during 2014 floods in Kashmir. Early Times has learnt that Minister has sanctioned the renovation of Municipal Park to the company in the same manner as was done with Pratap Park. Both the parks are situated at trendy Residency Road in the heart of the city and are merely half a kilometer away from each other. "The minister has also sanctioned the renovation of Municipal Park to the company without issuing any formal orders. The work may be started in next few months," sources said. It is worth mentioning that minister in order to conceal the 'covert indenture' with Mumbai based and its ally in Kashmir for redecoration of historic Pratap Park, had stopped unauthorized work for over two months. Early Times was the first to report friendly rapport of the Minister with the Mumbai based company to which contract worth crores of rupees was sanctioned without any formal order. Official sources said that the state government did not issue any tender notice and the projects were handed over to the company, through a Kashmir based Civil Society Group for its 'Infrastructural Improvement and Beautification'. "We cannot say as to how much the state government is going to spend over the redecoration of Sheri-Kashmir Municipal Park, given the damages it may also go in crores.
