Tainted ULB official reinstated as DyDir | | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 23: The Deputy Director in Urban Local Bodies (ULB) suspended for illegal appointments in 2011 has been reinstated without any inquiry. Important documents accessed by Early Times reveal how the allegedly tainted official managed to get reinstated on his post without facing any probe. According to Government order number 130-HUD of 2011 dated 02/06/2011, the official presently holding the chair of Deputy Director in ULB was suspended for illegally recruiting people in his department without following set procedures for the same. The content of letter reads that "illegal recruitments were made in urban development agency Kashmir (UDAK) when the said officer was the Chief Executive officer in UDAK." The documents reveal that "while making appointments in UDAK provisions and rules for appointments were not followed by him by any means and neither did he consult any competent authority before making such appointments." As per document an inquiry was ordered against the officer for his role in illegal appointments in UDAK and was suspended and attached with urban development department, with immediate effect. According to sources state vigilance organization filed one First information report (FIR) against the officer and others for their alleged role in illegal appointments in UDAK, misusing government positions. However according to credible sources after remaining suspended for few months, the officer known for having strong political contacts in National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party managed to get his suspension order revoked and stop all inquiries ordered against him in ULB and Vigilance organization as well. Minister of state for Housing and Urban development department, Muhammad Ashraf Mir could not be contacted despite repeated attempts. |
