HRA condoles demise of Vaishno Devi pilgrims in helicopter crash | | | Early Times Report Katra, Nov 23: Hotel & Restaurant Association (HRA) Katra has condoled the death of six pilgrims and the woman pilot in a helicopter crash at Katra, Vaishnodevi. In a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of HRA, Katra President Rakesh Wazir where in Chairman of Association Shyam Lal Kesar was also present, the members expressed grief over the tragic incident. Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that Association as well as all the people of Katra are with the families of the deceased at this moment of grief and pray to Almighty for giving peace to the departed souls and give strength to their family members to bear this irreparable loss. He urged the government to provide compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the next of kin of each departed. Wazir said that it is astonishing that in the last few years this is the fourth incident of the helicopter crash at Katra Vaishnodevi and requested the Shrine Board authorities and Governor in particular that long pending demand of the Association that only twin engine (Double Engine) commercial helicopters be allowed in Vaishno Devi, Amarnath and other shrines of J&K because the risk factor in single engine helicopter is always too high and these helicopters should not be allowed for commercial purposes any more. He also expressed concern over how its sorties are being allowed to be operated through thickly populated areas and for its shifting its operation through some isolated helicopter route and separate isolated helipad be made for that avoiding endangering the precious lives of many more pilgrims and as well as of the local people . |
