Monga demands immediate release of wages to teachers | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 23: Urging the state government to take immediate steps to release wages of thousands of teachers, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and MLC G N Monga today said these teachers are on the verge of starvation as they haven't been paid for months together. In a statement to media he said teachers working under centrally sponsored schemes SSA and RMSA are being denied wages for no fault of theirs. "It is deplorable that teaching community has been put to sufferings and government is least bothered about their plight. How can they work with dedication as they aren't being paid wages?" "There are reports that some of these teachers have been forced to sell their belongings to feed their families which is a shame for government," he added. The Congress MLC cautioned the government that resentment was brewing up among teachers and it was high time it takes concrete steps to solve their problems once for all. Stressing for special budgetary provision to tackle this problem once for all, Monga said, "Government should realize the difficulties of these teachers and issue orders for release of their pending salaries at the earliest." |
