Natrang to perform play Bawa Jitto

JAMMU, Nov 23: Natrang the pioneering performing arts professional institution of J&K is going to organize mega theatrical show on the supreme sacrifice of Dogra folk legend Bawa Jitto at Jhiri Mela-2015 on 24th and 25th of Nov. 2015 at the main stage of Jhiri Mela. The show timings will be 7:00 PM on both of these days. This was informed here on today by the Natrang Director Padamshree Balwant Thakur in a press briefing at Natrang Studio Theatre that staging of Bawa Jitto is going to be the ultimate attraction of Jhiri Mela. Natrang has been organizing the shows of Bawa Jitto for the last ten years at Jhiri Mela which have been witnessed by lakhs of people. The presentation of this mega theatre show of Natrang is supported by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Bawa Jitmal Shrine Mela Committee, Jhiri. This is a rarest opportunity for the audience to live through a six hundred year old saga in memory of which this festival is held every year since ages. He thanked Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for giving sustenance support to this globally acclaimed play which is now being performed regularly since last 30 years and has created the history for being the longest living theatre production of the country.
The lead role of Bawa Jitto is being played by famous senior actor of stage Arvind Anand whereas the role of Bua Gauri is being played by young artist Sanchita Dubey. Other artists include Suresh Kumar, Neeraj Kant, Vijay Bhatt, Subash Jamwal, Rahul Singh, Mohd. Yaseen, Pawan Verma, Ankush Lakhnotra, Girdhari lal. Harbans Lal, Rajan Thakyal, Pankaj Verma, Juhi Singh, Aishwarya Sathe, Geetanjali Khajuria, Meenakshi Bhagat, Vandana Shubh, Pallavi Mathur, Vishal Sharma, Masood Qadir, Shivam Singh, Sumeet Sharma, Piyush Anand, Rishabh Sharma, Rohit Kumar, Kuldeep Angral, Sant Baksh Pratap Singh.
Scripted by Late Padamshree Prof. Ram Nath Shastri, the play unfolds the life sketch of Dogra folk hero, a devotee of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Bawa Jitto who sacrificed his life while fighting for justice.
