PDP committed to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination: Mahajan

Jammu, Dec 7 : Reiterating commitment of the PDP led coalition government to develop Jammu as an independent tourist destination, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that Chief Minister Addressing a meeting of party workers at Jammu, General Secretary PDP, Ved Mahajan said that the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has a comprehensive vision for the socio-economic growth of Jammu region.
"PDP in its agenda has also promised that to implement a comprehensive programme so that Jammu will remain a favourite tourist destination of tourists and devotees from all over the country and from the aboard, he added.
Mahajan especially mentioned statements of Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed on Sunday and Monday in which the Chief Minister has said that an appropriate strategy has been devised to create attractive assets in and around the winter capital to sustain tourist footfall, which has a direct bearing on trade and business of the city.
Further expressing his gratitude towards coalition regime for promises to develop Jammu as independent tourist destination, Mahajan said that Jammu has its own importance due to rich heritage and historic temples and monuments and has potential to sustain the stay of tourists.
He mentioned that directions of the Chief Minister to expedite work on the execution of Jammu Ropeway would be proved as a mile stone in the Jammu tourism while artificial lake project in Jammu also reflects Government's commitment to develop new tourist destinations in Jammu region.
Mahajan reminded that PDP in its election manifesto had especially emphasized on Jammu city so as to develop this historical city as heritage tourism destination.
Party has a comprehensive vision for developing this historic city in every sphere of life, he said and reminded that during his earlier tenure as Chief Minister from 2002 to 2005, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had initiated many revolutionary steps for beautification of Jammu city
