We're for independent Kashmir: MLA Larmi | | | Early Times Report kulgam, Dec 7: After Mustafa Kamaal it was another National Conference leader who claimed that the party pitches for "independence of Kashmir from India." NC legislator from Homshalibugh constituency of south Kashmir, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, shortly after the culmination of anti-Government protests in Kulgam told reporters that financial packages can't resolve Kashmir issue and the party is with the people "who demand freedom from India." "We are with independent Kashmir. Even our leader Omar Abdullah on the floor of the House maintained that the 'accession' of Kashmir with India is temporary and not permanent," Larmi said. Responding to a question, Larmi said that independent Kashmir "is the only option that could guarantee peace in the subcontinent. In fact both parts of Kashmir held by India and Pakistan should be given independence. Whether in power or out of power we continued to maintain that accession of Kashmir with India was conditional and not permanent." When told that Education Minister Naeem Akhtar has said that Kashmir is an integral part of India, Larmi said, "He is not representative of people and he is not an elected member." "Whatever Akhtar says are his personal views as he has not been elected by people. The fact is that Kashmir is not an integral part of India," the NC legislator said. |
