After the girl went missing from home under mysterious circumstances on November 12, her family members lodged a report with Akhnoor police station. She was later recovered by the Akhnoor police from a Punjab area. In her statement to police, she alleged that some small time politicians and prominent shopkeepers of Akhnoor too had raped her. She even revealed the names of the places where she used to be taken forcibly and raped, according to police sources. Police had made a list of these persons and were likely to call them to the police station for questioning. Many of them had fled Akhnoor to unknown places to avoid police investigation, the sources added. A case in this connection stands registered at Akhnoor police station under FIR No 221. Sources said despite all the political pressure, police were likely to call the persons, as named by the girl as her rapists, to the police station for questioning. |
