Bizarre! Hospital building worth crores sans a ramp 12/7/2015 11:43:56 PM Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 7: While insensitivity of our society towards people with limited mobility is obvious, it is a pity that a place like hospital sans a ramp that is imperative to bring in patients who have to be brought in on wheel chairs or stretchers. Shockingly, 200 bedded Government Maternity Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu, constructed with crores of rupees does not have ramp facility. Strangely, the new Emergency block of the GMC hospital which was constructed a few years back also did not have ramp facility. It was only after the intervention of media, the executing agency made temporary ramp. Sources informed Early Times that State Health department as well as executing agency Jammu and Kashmir Public Work Department (PWD), have no clue of the guidelines for the construction of hospital building and such basic facilities are overlooked repeatedly. During the visit of Chief Minister to the Maternity Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu on Monday, it also pointed out that building of the hospital is almost completed but the executing agency had forgotten to make ramp in the building, Sources claimed and added that representatives of PWD claimed on the occasion that the ramp will be constructed in second phase.
