srinagar, Dec 7: An earthquake of 7 magnitude on the Richter scale rock the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, this afternoon forcing people to rush out of their homes in panic, the Met department said. A Met spokesman told that the tremors were felt at 1320 hrs and lasted few seconds.
"Yes, the 7 magnitude tremors were recorded in our office," he said. He said the epicenter of the quake was in Tajkistan.
Police said there was no report of any loss of life or damage to property.
The Valley, which falls under Seismic Zone 5, recorded a number of moderate quake last month. |
