Safaikaramcharis without two months wages, hold protest 12/7/2015 11:25:55 PM ET Report kathua, Dec 7: Peaceful protest was staged by Safaikaramcharis working under Municipal Council Kathua got exasperated when Chief Executive Officer MC Kathua allegedly misbehaved with number of Safaikaramcharis who today called on CEO to raise their several demands including remuneration, tools and uniform. Swan Chita, President Safaikaramcharis Union Urban body cricitized the misconduct of CEO which he did with the workers when the protesters approached him to submit meomorandum comprising of several demands and problems faced by workers. He said that Safaikaramcharis have not got remuneration for 2 months but whenever they approached to CEO MC Kathua, he simply gave lame execuses on one pretext or the other without taking appropriate steps to solve the genuine issue. He alleged that MC Kathua has several income sources like fee for maps, rent from shops, JCB & drilling machine charges including fee of gutter cleanliness machine but it is astonishing as to where the money is diverted leaving the workers in the lurch. Chita demanded 6% DA arrears, remuneration, tools for cleanliness and uniform in regular basis. He added that merely 318 posts of Safaikarmcharis had been filled in 2013 whereas 230 still lying vacant which should be filled with immediate effect.
