Mendhar, Dec 29: Cooks engaged to prepare mid-day meals for students in government schools under SSA are without salaries for the last 21 months in Balakote zone of Mendhar tehsil.
"Cooks engaged on a meagre salary of Rs 1,000 per month have not received their dues for the last 21 months. As there is nobody to raise their issue, they remain unattended," sources said.
Talking to Early Times, Chief Education Officer (CEO), Poonch, Lal Hussain said, "I have sent eight months salary to them and I fail to understand why ZEO is not aware about this issue", he added.
In an appeal made to Director School Education, Jammu, cooks have asked for the early release of their salaries. "We are getting meagre salaries which too are not being disbursed on time," they said, urging the authorities concerned to increase their salaries. |
