After DeM, Hurriyat 'G' asks youth to stay away from New Year celebrations

GULMARAG, Dec 29: After DeM Chief Asiya Andrabi, Hardliner Hurriyat (G) Chairperson Geelani asked people particularly youth to stay away from New Year celebration programs which will be held at various tourist locations including famous Ski-resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.
According to reports, "Syed Ali Shah Geelani Chairperson Hurriyat (G) Tuesday asked people particularly youth to stay away from New Year celebrations program being held at various tourist locations in the disputed region.
Chairman said Islam being a complete region does not prohibit recreation but there is a definitive way prescribed for Muslims.
It is learnt that, "The J&K Government is hosting a number of programs on the eve of New Year, particularly at the famous ski-resort in Gulmarg where musician from Indian commercial film industry are scheduled to perform.
However he has said that, 'youth must keep in mind their religious more and cultural obligations and should allow themselves to wander.
Pertinently in recent past DeM Chief, Asiya Andrabi, had opposed the proposed New Year celebrations to be held at tourist resort of Gulmarg and alleged that these programs are being organized under an agenda devised by the RSS to thrust upon Kashmir the shameless and lewd culture of India.
However she had termed that programs which are being organized on December 31 at Gulmarg as, 'cultural onslaught'.
Both the separatist leaders have asked the people to remain away from these programs 'at any cost'.
Meanwhile a senior official of Gulmarg Development Authority (GAD) said that, hundreds of tourists and locals are expected to visit the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg for the New Year celebrations.
Many events are being organized by tourism department as part of the celebrations. There will be some cultural programmes, including Skiing and some music performances, along with other events aimed at entertaining the visitors, the official told early times.
The official said that, as you know the situation in Kashmir is altogether different at the moment and it is not bad as it is being projected by some vested interests.
There will be an interaction with tour operators outside the state, so that out tour operators from Kashmir valley can learn many things and can bring some changes in their work culture which can boost the tourism at national and international levels, official said.
He said, the celebrations will be environment-friendly and the events on New Year will give hope for a new beginning as 2015 took a lot from us but 2016 will bring a new future, peace and prosperity for one and all.
It is learnt that, "GAD will host National Ice skating including Five day long National Ice Skating Championship which will be started from ending December 2015.
