Early Times Report POONCH, Dec 29: Youth National Conference (YNC) workers on Tuesday lodged a strong protest against the absence of District Development Commissioner and other senior officers in the District Administrative Complex, as they found none to receive the memorandum listing problems faced by the people and seeking roll back of the ill-conceived Food Security Act. As a mark of their resentment, the protesters, led by Provincial Youth National Conference President and former MLA Ajaz Jan, gifted locks to the class four staff of the complex, saying there was no fun in opening of the offices if nobody had time to sit and listen to public grievances. "The Administration is missing", rued Jan while addressing his workers who were joined by a large number of people thronging from various hilly and remote areas of the district in pursuit of their problems. He said there was no surprise in administration having gone on vacation as the PDP-BJP coalition had miserably failed to lay any impact on governance. "The wheels of the administration have jammed", he said adding that the people were feeling a terrible sense of neglect. In the absence of any senior officer, the Youth National Conference workers marched towards the office of the Additional Superintendent of Police to present their memorandum, listing various gray areas needing the immediate attention, particularly in the wake of ongoing winter. The memorandum emphasized on the need for withholding the implementation of the Food Security Act, saying this will deprive huge chunk of population of the much needed foodgrains. Jan asked the coalition government to shun the path of confrontation and gauge the public pulse, which was totally against this Act. |
