NSF appeals SVC, Govt to seize powers of VC, JU | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 30: The National Secular Forum (NSF) today appealed the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) and the state government to seize the power of Jammu University (JU) Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma, an inquiry is pending against him in the SVC pertaining to malpractices, irregularities and nepotism. Addressing a press conference here today, NSF senior vice president Surjit Choudhary said that SVC had issued notice seeking status report from the Jammu University Registrar following complaint of malpractices and irregularities against the Vice Chancellor. "But unfortunately, the person against whom there is complaint he himself is holding the highest seat of authority in JU. Under such circumstances he has got enough of opportunity to tamper the records," he alleged. He said, "The SVC and state government must take cognizance of the matter and recommend seizure of all his powers pending enquiry against him which only ensures the whole process of some meaning." Stating that cognizance taken by the SVC has failed to deter the Vice Chancellor from following his personal agenda, he alleged that recently the VC extended undue favour to some of his blue-eyed. The NSF senior vice president urged the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to immediately intervene and order seizure of Vice Chancellor's powers so as to ensure transparent and fair probe into the irregularities and corruption done in JU. |
