Banihal, Dec 30: Despite government of India's and the state government's announcement about enhancement of honorarium of the SPOs around 25000 candidates are still waiting for the hike. The central government has accepted to give Rs 90 Cr for doubling the wages of the SPOs but nothing has moved. Sources said that following approval to the proposal for increase in wages of about 25,000 SPOs in Jammu and Kashmir by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the proposal was sent to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for concurrence. A deputation of SPOs told Early Times that the SPOs were presently getting Rs 3000 per month. Initially, the increase in the wages had been proposed to Rs 5000 per month but now this has been increased to Rs 6000 per month i.e. 100 per cent increase from the existing wages but that announcement has not been implemented. They said that the enhanced wages are still not paid to them and they are facing hardships on this very low Rs 3000 wages per month. Deputation said and added that they cannot afford to give school fee to their children and also can't afford to earn bread and butter for their families on this very low monthly honorarium. Sources said that in Jammu and Kashmir by the State Government while out of 24,870 SPOs, 14845 are working in Kashmir division and 8338 in Jammu region. Moreover, 1687 SPOs are working in different wings of Police department in the state. These SPOs appealed the state and central government to implement the order. |
