| Expert Urologist made HoD Surgery, patients suffer | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 30: A senior Urologist has been catapulted to the chair of the Head of Department General Surgery at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu while there is no HoD in Urology Surgery department at Super Specialty Hospital Jammu.
According to sources in Health and Medical Education Department HoD of General surgery who is a urologist and has devoted at least 30 years to this stream now is heading the Department of General Surgery at GMCH Jammu just for his influence and alleged backing from some mentors in political sphere. He also failed to share his specialization with those budding medicos and do surgical work in specialization filed.
"Though he is a Post graduate of General Surgery but his expertise is established as urologist and he has attained a good repute in the field as he used to run his private practice as a known consultant urologist of the city", sources said adding, "while working as head of the department of general surgery and keeping himself pre occupied in the administrative works only, he is inaccessible to the patients who require his expertise."
They said despite urgent need of an expert urologist at GMCH Jammu and complaints from patients the health authorities are least bothered to concede to the demand and let the urologist in 'hiding' as head of General Surgery department while patients suffer.
Sources alleged that the said senior medico not only runs his private practice in his choicest field i.e. urology at Gandhi Nagar but has managed a cool and comfy chair for him at office courtesy his influence.
"Some doctors in the hospital, also claimed that HoD himself has surrendered his urology filed and opted higher chair in General Surgery by writing to the health authorities". |
