BJP spokesman Arun Gupta's illegal house: more portion demolished | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 30: The anti-encroachment drive that was launched by the Revenue department in posh Trikuta Nagar here continued on the second day Wednesday. During the drive, the team demolished the remaining boundary wall and some portion of the house of BJP spokesperson Arun Gupta. The structure had been constructed illegally on a nullah. On Tuesday, a team of Revenue officials led by SDM South dismantled the illegal construction raised by BJP spokesman. Besides, the team also demolished the houses of many other persons which were constructed on state land in Trikuta Nagar area. The drive was taken after the High Court's strict direction to the Revenue department to demolish the illegal buildings constructed on the water bodies causing chocking and flooding. The drive was launched from the house of one Charanveer Singh of Nanak Nagar. Charanjeet had raised construction along the banks of the nullah. Later, the team demolished the house of one Chetan Rajput which was also constructed along the nullah. The team then moved towards the BJP spokesperson Arun Gupta's residence in South extension sector 1 of Trikuta Nagar where he had raised his double storey house along the banks of the nullah. The boundary wall and some portion of Gupta's house were demolished with the help of JCCB machines. The service of the police to execute the drive was also pressed as relatives of those whose residences were demolished started gathering at the site and started hue and cry. |
