New Year cards at expense of State exchequer | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 30: With people craving for basic amenities, most of the PDP-BJP ministers are these days busy in printing the 'New Year' cards at the expense of the state exchequer. Hundreds of people these days have been visiting to the Civil Secretariat Jammu on an average daily to get redressal of their problems. But majority of them return disappointed as the whole machinery at the Civil Secretariat Jammu has been busy in printing the New Year cards of ministers and bureaucrats that too at the expense of the state exchequer. Sources said each minister has printed around 1000 to 2000 New Year cards and has withdrawn money from the state exchequer. Sources said the ministers and bureaucrats have put their personnel section employees into services by printing cards and dispatch them to their relatives, friends, colleagues, ministers, legislators, businessmen, officers etc. "No work is being done for the last few days at the Civil Secretariat. The files have also been stalled since the employees remain busy with this exercise of ministers," an official Civil of Secretariat said. "We have nothing to do in printing the cards but why at the cost of state exchequer?" He said there was no accountability since Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was admitted to the hospital in New Delhi and ministers and bureaucrats have been taking undue advantage in his absence. "Ministers and bureaucrats have spent lakhs of rupees on printing New Year cards but most of them don't bothered to redress basic problems of the people," he said. Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Rajouri has been visiting the personnel section of Health Minister Lal Singh for the last three days to get his problem solved but left disappointed. "Whole personnel section of the minister's was busy in printing the cards of the minister and our problems remain unsolved," said Farooq Ahmad, a resident of Rajouri. |
