Attendants' Park at GMCH faces official apathy, sans maintenance | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 30: The Attendants' Park at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu was established for the benefit of the attendants reaching the hospital with their near and dears admitted there so that they can make use of it but its dilapidated condition speaks volume of the callousness on part of the authorities concerned. Located opposite to Sir (Col) R N Chopra Nursing Home, the GMC&H, Jammu administration utterly failed to maintain the 'Attendants Park', the foundation stone of which was laid by Ex- Minister for Health And Medical Education R S Chib in the presence of Ex-MLA Jammu West Prof Chaman Lal Gupta in the year 2010, however, being only five years old, the park is dying slow death courtesy indifferent attitude of the authorities. Sources told Early Times that the department which is entrusted with the maintenance of the park has not been able to ensure its upliftment with the required infrastructure including benches, Mast lights and flowers. Due to the official apathy, wild grass has grown everywhere which gives it a look nothing less than garbage dump. The much hyped campaign "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ostensibly found no takers as the park which is ironically situated in one of the premier health institutions of the state thanks to official neglect. When contacted Medical Superintendent GMCH Dr Ravinder Rattan Paul admitted that the park is in deplorable condition due to dearth of the sanitation staff. |
