JKAACL secretary's announcement to conduct theatre 'festivals' draws widespread applaud | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 30: Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, ulture and Languages, Aziz Hajini has said that future endeavours in the field of theatre would be based on spirit of a collective and collaborative efforts from all artists for the promotion of the same which would be a of 'festival' nature only. Hajini laid stress on the word 'festival' apparently in the wake of the recently concluded annual drama competition and its results having caught in controversy over alleged remarks of one the judge in the media putting onus on Academy for results tampering. Hajini, though remained non-committal on the judge's charges against academy, he however, sought proofs for action against the delinquent activity held in the process. The rules and regulation of the Academy's ADF given to all participant competitors in its series at number 11 is very clear about "any Academy employee participating in the competition in any capacity" is liable for action under the competition rules that automatically disqualifies the groups using their services and the entire competition. Four competing groups in ADF were the major beneficiaries of the judges' awards in the result who had hired the services of Academy employees whose name appear in their brochures, which are in Academy records. The rules copy is issued under the sign of Secretary himself. Hajini was addressing the awards winners at JKAACL who had gathered to receive the awards of the ADF 2015-16 at Abhinav theatre. The secretary also said that he had already contemplated to change the nomenclature of the activity from competition to festival and his announcement to do so invite thunderous applause from the artistic circles. Minister of state for culture, Priya Sethi who was the chief guest on the occasion while talking to media said that though she too has received complaints on judgment and gone through media charges against the ADF 2015-16 and welcomed the new gesture in the theatre dispensation which she aid would go long way in promoting , preserving the art besides giving more buoyancy to the theatrical activities in the Jammu region. |
