Early Times Report srinagar, Dec 30: State Social Welfare Board and 47 Battalion of SSB today jointly launched a one month long vocational training programme for livelihood generation in cutting tailoring and boutique at Tinda Mohalla, inside Dal Lake. The programme was launched by DIG of Police, SSB Kashmir, R K Bhumba under the Civic Action Programme of SSB. The Guest of Honour on the occasion was Sub Divisional Magistrate Srinagar Dr. Syed Hanief Balkhi. The programme was attended by Executive Director and Secretary, Social Welfare Board, Aamir Ali. Under the vocational training programme around 20 girls belonging to families living below poverty line, from the area, including two girls, with physical disability will be provided one month long training in cutting, tailoring, boutique, as well as specialized training in fashion designing with the support of experts. The locals expressed their appreciation to Chairperson Social Welfare Board Dr. Prof. Nirmal Gupta for being instrumental in having initiated the vocational training in the area with the help of SSB and hoped that more such programmes would be launched, in the adjoining areas as well, which have been badly affected due to floods. The locals said that educated youth have limited employment opportunities and such vocational programmes would empower the youth especially female folk, with skills and help them to earn their dignified livelihood. |
