Student organizations demand hostel facility | | | Early Times Report doda, Dec 30: Various student organisations have unanimously raised their demand for the provision of hostel facility to them at par with the students from Ladakh region. It is dire need of the hour to provide hostel facility to the youth hailing from erstwhile district Doda pursuing higher studies and various professional courses in Jammu, said Koushal Sharma who is pursuing PG in mathematics from Jammu University. While sharing his views he stated that Jammu city being hub of education, thousands of young boys and girls hailing from Chenab valley throng here every year for their studies. After reaching Jammu a lot of precious time gets spoiled as they have to move from door to door to find shelter to accommodate themselves. It is only after hectic efforts that they get accommodation the same is at unaffordable expenses. Most of the students belong to poor families and they find it hard to manage the expenses for lodging and transportation and ultimately give up their studies. Others who somehow manage to continue the studies also suffer badly as they are not able to get the lodgings near to their institutions and have to travel miles daily to reach their respective institutions and often get trapped in traffic jams that are a daily routine nowadays and fail to attend the classes regularly and punctually. All this leads to mental and emotional harassment to the youth who ultimately choose to stay at home and divert the attention from studies. Mohd Rafeeq another student hailing from Chenab valley and pursuing higher education at Jammu said that the youth of erstwhile district Doda are intelligent and excel in every field provided they get the opportunity. He alleged that the respective state governments have never been serious towards the cause of student community. He said that the only option to raise the educational standard of the backward Chenab valley is to provide separate hostel at Jammu to the youth pursuing higher and technical education there at par with the students of Ladakh region. |
