Impressive Shiv Baraat taken out in Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 5 : An impressive Shiv Baraat was taken out from Ranbireshwar temple here today on the eve of Maha Shivratri by the Shiv Sevaks -the devotees of Lord Shiva.
The Shiv Baraat was taken out after performing religious rituals and pooja in the temple premises by devotees. A large number of devotees from Jammu and outside the State accompanied the Baraat. The artists from holy town of Katra presented their devotional musical items on the occasion.
The yatra started from Shri Ranbireshwar Ji Mandir and passed from main bazars viz. City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Residency road, Rajinder Bazar, Kanak Mandi, Old Hospital road, Purani Mandi, Link road, Jain Bazar, Chowk Chabutra, Panjthirthi, Pacca Danga Parade Chowk and in the end finally culminated at Shri Ranbireshwar Ji Temple.
The people enroute greeted the Shiv Baraat by showering flowers on it. The devotees were also chanting the religious hymns and singing bhajans in praise of Lord Shiva. The people also offered soft drinks, juice, fruit and sweets to baraatis enroute. The bazars were also fully decorated befitting the occasion.
The highlights of the Shiv Baraat were the Shiv Taandav, Mahakali Dance, bursting of crackers, instrumental music and various other feasts by the dancers enthralled the people.
A large number of jhankis were taken on tractor trolleys depicting the Lord Shiva, the Shiv Taandav etc Various traders, religious organizations of old city has organized Bhandaras (Langars) at various places for the devotees in the Yatra Marg. Mahant of the temple Swami shri 108 Rishi Ban, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust Shashi Khajuria along with staff members took part in Shobha Yatra and extends heartiest Mahashivratri wishes to Jammuities.
All the members of SRMWC Onkar Sharma (Nandi Ji),(President), Rajkumar Gupta (Vice- President) , Amit Gupta (Vice - President), Rajinder Vijay Magotra (Vice President), (Anubhav Suri (Advisor), Mandeep Sharma (Joint Secretary), Deepak Sharma (Press and Publicity Secretary), Dr. Sunny Gupta (Gen. Sectt.), Advocate Jyoti Sarup Misra (Spokesperson and Legal Advisor), Rekha Sharma (President Women Wing), Dolly Abrol (Vice President Women Wing), Mohan Sharma (Cashier), Surinder Bhagat (Secretary), Kuldeep Singh, Bhushan Ji, Rajesh Sharma, Vishal, Madan Lal, Advocate Kapil Sharma, Rameshwar Sharma and others took part in this Shiv Barat and extended Shivratri greetings to the locals. All the departments of Distt. administration Jammu viz. P.D.D, P.H.E, J.M.C, Police, Traffic Police, C.I.D, Health made elaborate arrangements for the success of Shobha Yatra.
