Shivratri on cards, KPs await ration | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 5: Maha Shivratri being annual religious functions is celebrated by the Kashmiri Pandits every year with full zeal and zest and the state administration is expected to provide all the facilities including ration to them for its smooth celebration has failed to supply rations, multiplying the woes of the Kashmiri migrants this year. The displaced Pandit community has been living in Jammu and other parts of the country leaving back their houses in Valley during unwanted migration in the 1990 and depending upon the money and material support of the state government to pass the day to day life. Early Times correspondent, while talking to many leaders of Kashmiri migrant community, expressed their anguish and resentment for the failure of the state government to provide basic facility like ration inspite of the appeals made well in time to the government. Describing the utter failure of the government, Ajay Chrungoo, Chairman Panun Kashmir expressed his astonishment for inability of the concerned Department to provide ration, adding that PDS should have shown adequate improvement in the present dispensation. It was a shocking to learn that KPs were being denied ration on the eve of Maha Shivratri festival. Agnishekhar, Convener Panun Kashmir, informed that ration is the basic need which should have been supplied without much ado, but it was shocking to see the negligence on the CAPD to provide ration to the migrant community. He said that the migrants leaders have been conveying the authorities through meetings and press conferences for making necessary arrangements on ration on the eve of Maha Shivratri which did not make the CAPD to budge a little to arrange ration supply which is absolsutely unexpected. Ashwani Chrungoo, President Panun Kashmir Movement, said that the launching of the Food Security Act should not have been a hindrance for the CAPD to release ration articles to the Kashmiri pandits, who have to celebrate Shivratri tomorrow. Dubbing the action of the concerned Department as callous, Ashwani said that denial of ration to the migrant community is a glaring example of human rights violations. Shadi Lal Pandita, President Jagti Tenement Committee while sharing his concern with the Early Times, said that ever since displacement of the Kashmir pandits from the valley, they have been getting ration from the CAPD claiming that Food Security Act has nothing to do for restraining the release of ration to the community as the amount incurred for ration supply to the pandit community is debited to security releted expenditure. M.K.Yogi, President NC Minority Cell voiced his resentment on the pathetic attitude of the government saying that Kashmiri migrants did not have much difficulty for getting rations from the previous NC-Congress government whereas the present dispensation is proved to be anti-Kashmir migrants which has deprived the community of the ration supply on the occasion of Shivratri. All the leaders of Kashmiri Pandit community jointly urged upon the state government to ensure immediate supply of rations to the Kashmiri migrants camps located in various parts of Jammu enabling them to celebrate the Shivratri with full religious fervor and gaiety. |
