3/8/2016 11:31:48 PM
Early Times Report

rajouri, Mar 8: For the last two months Consumer Affair & Public Distribution (CAPD) department has failed to provide Rice , Sugar, Atta to the ration card holders in Rajouri district.
On Monday the department provided Sugar at government sale depots but the department has not been issuing Rice to the people despite the availbity of Rice at these depots.
"The Rice quota has been supplied according to National Food Security Act (NFSA) guidelines while the people demanding rice as per old Public Distribution System (PDS)" said dealer at government ration depot No 2 in Ward No 9 Rajouri.
There was great resentment among the beneficiaries as they didn't get ration (Rice,Atta, & Sugar) during last two months.
As for as the supply of Atta was concerned, dealer said that the department has not supplied Atta for the last two months.
Dealer further said that instead Atta the CAPD department is planning to supply Wheat to the beneficiaries in the rural as well as in Urban areas. The ration card holders especially in Urban areas have been refusing to take Wheat citing reasons that they have no facilities in the towns to grind the wheat .
"As for as ,supply of Wheat to the beneficiaries of Public Distribution System (PDS) is concerned, it is not feasible especially in towns and urban areas.
The matter has been taken up with the State Government and it was hoped that soon in consultation with Union Government the Atta will be made available to the people" said Nazir Shah, Assistant Director ,CAPD.
Pertinently, the officials of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) here at Rajouri have badly failed to update the lists of the beneficiaries under National Food Security Act and till today the correction work is in progress.
"As the correction of the lists of the ration card holders under NFSA is still under progress, it would not be possible for the CAPD authorities to release the ration in the month of March and ultimately the people would be sufferers for the mistakes committed by the officials of CAPD department" said Yogesh Sharma. Political and social leader.
