Mehbooba to meet Modi, Jaitley in Delhi

Srinagar, Mar 8: Two-month long stalemate over the Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is set to end as the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti is meeting Prime Minister Nadrendra Modi to re-forge her party's alliance with the BJP.
Mehbooba had already on Monday hinted at the early Government formation, saying her party has no issues with the BJP and that the need of the hour is to accept the conditions set by the PDP earlier.
Meanwhile, top sources within the PDP divulged that Mehbooba has left for New Delhi wherein besides meeting the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, she would hold one on one meet with the Prime Minister.
Sources said that the final shape of the agreement shall be given in New Delhi within the span of two days and that the formal announcement over the new Government formation shall be made with the leadership of both the BJP and the PDP holding a joint press conference in the capital.
Sources revealed further that the Union Finance Ministry will announce an additional special package of Rs 9000 crores for Jammu and Kashmir which will be utilized besides the normal Central assistance for the State.
There are reports coming to fore that the major portfolios that shall be accorded to the BJP and the PDP Ministers in Mehbooba's Cabinet shall also be discussed.
Sources said that Mehbooba will hold a detailed meeting with Modi at 7 Race Course road and that she would be accompanied by none. "It will be one on one meet. There will be no other PDP leader accompanying Mehbooba while meeting Modi. The duo will take the final call. Ahead of meeting Modi, Mehbooba will also meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley," sources said, adding that the issue of the return of the power projects from the NHPC besides other delicate issues shall be discussed at threadbare with the major breakthrough being expected after Mehbooba's meeting with the Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister.
The deadlock over the Government formation has entered into the third month after the demise of the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in AIIMS New Delhi on January 7, this year. Mehbooba exhibited reluctance in joining hands with the BJP for the new Government formation, pitching for the JK specific CBMs.
After both the parties held hectic parleys to end the stalemate, sources said that a major breakthrough in the Government formation shall be witnessed within few days and that the meeting of the PDP chief with the Prime Minister carries much importance in view of the present situation.
Pertinently, Mehbooba has been hinting from the past few days a breakthrough in the deadlock whole pitching that her late father didn't make the wrong decision by entering into an alliance with the BJP in March last year.
