'Let Kashmir become azad in India' | Close down JNU | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 8: JNU students' union president seditious Kanhaiya Kumar's concept of azadi has found in the person of a JNU controversial and pro-Kashmiri separatist teacher Happymon Jacob his greatest admirer. Jacob was also on the staff of Jammu University for some time. It's not that Jacob is alone who identifies himself with the ongoing secessionist and communal movement in Kashmir and promotes their sinister agenda. There are many like him in the JNU, including Nivedita Manon, Tanika Sarkar, to mention only a few, who also produce only seditionists. They are of the view that Kashmir is not part of India and that India is occupying Kashmir through brutal force. They say that Indian Army rules the roost in almost 30 per cent of the country's territory and also shamelessly say that India forcibly occupied Manipur and Nagaland. This is the kind of Teachers in the JNU. Nivedita Menon, for example, according to Zee News (March 8), said that India is an "imperialist country". "Here 30-40 percent of the country is under control of the army in the name of special forces laws, which are used to crush the people. Atrocities are being committed from Kashmir to the northeast and in Chhattisgarh. Manipur and Kashmir have been illegally occupied by the Indian state. Raising pro-azadi slogans in context of Kashmir was justified. When the international community is debating over legal occupation of Kashmir, then we should think that 'azadi' slogan is justified," she according to Zee News said. The JNU teachers fleece Indian rupees every month and lead luxurious life and on the campus, they only preach hatred against India. Indeed, JNU is a separatist producing factory in the Union capital that is run and maintained by the Indian taxpayers' money. After his conditional release from the Delhi's Tihar Jail, anarchist and Maowadi Kanhaiya addressed a gathering of seditious students at JNU and defended those, including Umar Khalid (presently in jail), who raised anti-India and pro-independence slogans and glorified the convict in the Parliament terror attack case, Afzal Guru, on February 9. Explaining his concept of azadi, he said azadi not from India but azadi in India. It is this formulation that has its deep impact on Jacob. Identifying himself with the Kashmiri separatist cause, he, only the other day, urged Kashmiri Muslims to appreciate this concept of azadi and move forward. "Azadi is a much-hated word in India thanks to the azadi struggle in Kashmir, a political movement that means different things to different people. For some, it is about freedom from India; for others it means autonomy as enshrined in Article 370; and for some others it simply means to be able to live with dignity without the fear of being shot or tortured. To me, azadi is about the struggle for political autonomy, self-esteem, desecuritized living spaces, and moral agency," he said. "Kashmiris can make use of this new political possibility provided it can be shown that azadi means 'not freedom from India, but freedom in India'. It is for the people of Kashmir to think whether that is acceptable to them or not…Moreover, Kanhaiya's war cry for azadi also shows that it's not just Kashmiris who are struggling for political freedoms in India, there are others who are even worse off than the Kashmiris," he further said. By "others" he obviously meant states like Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and also the areas where the Maoist terrorists are very active killing our CRPF jawans and other innocent civilians. Jacob clearly vouched for the establishment of theocratic and intolerant Kashmir Republic within the liberal and democratic Republic of India. He didn't say that Kashmir has already become a republic within the Indian republic under the pernicious, divisive, anti-people and anti-democratic Article 370. The fact of the matter is that he vouched for some thing more than Article 370. It is a matter of grave concern that we have in India the government-funded educational institutions where the students are fed with anti-India literature; where many teachers prepare ground for the balkanization of India; and where nationalists are condemned as communal, reactionary and what not. The Union Human Resource Development Minister needs to look into the functioning of all the Central Universities, including Central University Jammu and Central University Kashmir, so that they are freed from the rot and teachers impart instructions which build up nation and prepare students for serving the cause of society and nation. |
