Kishtwar, Mar 8: In a rare gesture of communal harmony, Muslims of Kishtwar held a party for their Hindu brethren on the eve of Mahashivratri here. The party, held in a hotel at Kuleed here, was attended by youth from both the communities, prominent citizens and senior police officers, including SSP Sandeep Wazir. Speaking on the occasion, the SSP hailed the efforts of Muslims for holding the party, which he said would surely bring a positive change in society. He called upon the youth to come forward for maintenance of peace and brotherhood in district. "The youth, who are the agents of change, peace and communal harmony, should come together for peace and welfare of the society," he added. Firdous Mingnoo, a youth leader who organised the party, said that both communities should focus on development of the district rather than indulging in destructive politics of 'divide and rule'. "Every religion teaches and spreads massage of peace, prosperity and brotherhood," he added. Kishori Shan, Vijay Parihar, Vipan Sen, Vijay Badyal, ABVP activist Sorav Kotwal, Ankush, Rocky Goswami, PDP's Umar Malik and trade unionist Raj Kumar Badyal also spoke on the occasion. |
