Former NC minister took 'wrong' decisions | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, May 7: Many decisions taken by the former NC minister have proven to be wrong and against, the set procedures and norms. The former minister was inducted by the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his council of ministers after he reshuffled his cabinet and dropped old faces and inducted new faces. The NC leader was inducted as MOS with independent charge of Industries and Commerce and chairman of various industrial PSU's. During his tenure as state minister he took various decisions which later on proved to be wrong and back fired.. It was published in the news papers that the minister tried to help the very influential industrialist of Jammu by allotting out of rules the prime land at one of the prestigious industrial estates. The decision was conveyed to then Director Industries and Commerce Jammu who put his foot down and refused to follow the diktat of the minister. Similarly the former MOS took a decision to promote blue eyed general managers of one of the PSU's following under his domain out of turn. The general managers elevated were Jasvinder Singh as MD SIDCO, Rakesh Sharma MD JK cements, and Ishtiyaq Drabu as MD handicrafts. Theses elevation were done against GAD set norms. During the tenure of these elevated MDs the performance of these corporations had a nose dive and the business witnessed a sharp decline as a result the total profit got reduced to net losses. Considering all these facts the then government led by Governor N. N Vohra, demoted Jasvinder Singh to his previous position and attached him with his parent organization. Similarly the performance of JK cement during the tenure of Rakesh Sharma witnessed a downfall. But during the recent tenure of Governor Rule Rakesh Sharma was demoted to his original position on 2 January 2016 and subsequently sent to his parent organization as General Manger. The former minister had also elevated ten blue eyed junior officers as general managers of one of the prestigious organization without following the rules. All general managers have been implicated various vigilance cases. According to the sources the government at present is now considering the reversion of these elevated GMs who also have not been confirmed till date. |
