Junior leaders out to wipe off seniors | Cheap tactics! | | BJP veteran figures nowhere on party website, twitter account
Early Times Report Jammu, May 7: In yet another instance of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party being a divided house and juniors trying to wipe off the seniors by resorting to "cheap tactics" state BJP's official website and twitter account have pictures of most of the leaders except the veteran BJP leader and former union minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta. The tastefully designed and encrypted party website with party's popular slogan- Nation First ….Party Second ….& Self last shows some interesting pattern vis-à-vis the pictures of the leaders beneath this catchphrase which has become a political mantra ever since it came to power both at Centre and in J&K. Pasting photos of Prime Minister Narender Modi and Party President Amit Shah with state chief Sat Sharma inevitable on the site is supported alongside by a group of more leaders from the state, in which the picture of party's veteran Prof Chaman Lal Gupta is conspicuously absent, an omission which looks deliberate and by design. Sources in the party said while the website is adorned with pictures of many more leaders and state functionaries who are far less junior than Prof Gupta is attributed to the fact that there are certain people in the party who do not want to give recognition to the stalwarts like him for a reason. It is the same group who hatched conspiracy to malign this octogenarian leader in the year 2011, no matter the whole episode was convoluted with conspiracies and complexities of the then situation. However, the fact also remains that Prof Gupta was later brought back, rather welcomed into the party fold and most of the allegations levelled against him could not be substantiated in the long drawn process of controversy. The point in reference here, is however different. It is that of party's antagonistic talk and hollow claims, for instance in telling people that leadership not only believes but shows that self comes later. So far so good. One is prompted to ask the leadership is that is true, why it has chosen to ignore and insult a veteran like Prof Gupta in the official website whose immense contribution and intense hardwork for decades is even recognized by the rival parties of BJP. The point also remains that those whose pictures have adorned the website are far less junior than Prof Gupta and few of them actually fresh entrants in the party. From Dr Nirmal Singh to Dr Jitender Singh on one hand to Jugal Kishore and Shamsher Singh to another, not to speak of the new entrant from Ladakh Thupstan Chewang, all are there in the layout of pictures. One cannot deny all of them are holding high positions and some key posts at present, many of them having served as state presidents, the fact also remains that Prof Chama Lal Gupta has outsmarted them in that sense too as he has not only served as state president three times, but also became MP and even Union Minister during his long political career. All this goes on to show that the present leadership actually believes in 'Promoting and & Pushing' Self first. |
