JAMMU, May 7: In a sharp move to woo the people of Jammu and win their hearts, Mehbooba Mufti, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has begun to do away with the step motherly treatment and meeting out justice on equal footings to all the regions of the State in order shut down the feeling of discontentment and discrimination.
The wave of discontentment smoldering in the minds of Jammu people over maltreatment at the hands of BJP during earlier ten months rule, has got some respite after keenly watching quickness with which Chief Minister took the whirlwind tour of Jammu region raising the hopes and aspirations of Jammu people. While talking to Early Times, Romesh Singh Chib of Jammu told that when there was Governor rule after the death of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed, there was total democratic lull due to popular govt out of place with incumbent Chief Minister avoiding disclosure of her cards regarding formation of government. Due to constant silence, the people of the State started gathering the impression about Mehbooba Mufti unwilling to form government so soon with BJP showing its desperation to occupy the chair. But with the quick turn of events and formation of popular government headed by Mehbooba Mufti as Chief Minister, she immediately caught hold of the nerve of Jammu people and expressed her commitment to bring Jammu people out of the morass of despondency and discrimination driving them to a stage where share of development shall prevail in all three regions of state on equal footings as even the people of Jammu expected the same treatment from the BJP leaders who did not evince much interest in their first inning in the government to come to the expectation of people landing them in a state of chaos and confusion.
While scrutinizing the pages of past history of human nature, it reveals that any person having lived during his or her early period of life studying in local college, intermingling with local class mates and other friends, taking frequent rounds of local streets eating golgapas on reharies would naturally carry the traces of emotional attachment of such a place, notwithstanding his or her highest achievement in life. Taking cue from this aspect of human nature, the experts go to the extent of comparing such type of an instinct with that of the nature of Mehbooba Mufti, who may probably be in the know of such part experiences of having remained in Jammu in connection with educational pursuits which might have served her as an internal guiding force of her own will to concentrate on Jammu region equally to treat it at par with Kashmir and Ladakh regions for dampening the voices of discrimination although such an inclination towards Jammu may be a fodder for her adversaries to term it as a political gimmicks, but given the observations of analysts, the fact of the matter is exactly the same in the schemes of things being followed by Mehbooba Mufti surpassing the wisdom level of many political leaders as also BJP leaders, so called stalwarts of Jammu, who will take years together to fall in line with the highly matured thinking of the Chief Minister free from prejudices, whatsoever.
A senior BJP leader of Jammu on the condition of not quoting his name shared with a news analyst saying that he was agog with happiness and a deep sense of satisfaction to find Mehbooba Mufti paying good amount of attention at her initial start for gearing up the development activities in Jammu region with her first emphasis on the tourist sector to be developed on an accelerated speed clearly her intentions and determination that gone are the days when Jammu or people of Ladakh suffered discrimination at the hands of Kashmiri leaders since decades which is the general thinking in Jammu region with efforts now afoot to set the line straight for spreading equality in Jammu Ladakh and Kashmir with regarding to development of these regions as well.
While in conversation with one of the firm supporter of BJP party, he sprang a surprise expressing his view point and experience gained during last ten months rule of BJP asserting that Mehbooba Mufti who is head of the government, has raised optimism level of Jammu people showing her indomitable will to work as saviour of Jammu and its people, who till now, were desperately looking at their BJP leaders and Ministers in the government to behave as public servants to serve people and not as kings or for that matter as dictators to crush their own people emotionally but sadly enough they simply detached the people of Jammu from their fold due to their anti Jammu policy adopted for fear of losing the power. They further said that within a short period of one month governance, the people of Jammu have started strongly feeling in the leadership of Mehbooba as their own leader and voice to reckon with to take care of burning issues needing urgent attention like completion of artificial Tawi lake project, cable car project from Peerkho to Bahu Fort, to expedite work on Mubarak Mandi, development of Suchetgarh border like Wagah and to restore its pristine glory, exploring more avenues of new tourists spot in Jammu division etc, further said adding that if such a trend of the Mehbooba's sense of belonging continues unabated to give practical shape to her determination for bridging yawning gap between saying and doing, the days are not far off to see people of Jammu to embrace PDP in their arms openly irrespective of class, caste and creed forgetting the differences between political parties belonging to one sect of community or the other to which the Bhartiya Janta Party and its leaders propagate to establish their hegemony on one particular community and defeat its interests pertaining to overall development and other regional issues of Jammu for which BJP shouldered responsibility before coming into power on the strength of whole hearted support in assembly elections in 2014. |
