Consider Kashmir based Pandits under PM package, HC to Government | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 3: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed state government to consider valley based Pandits for employment under Prime Minister’s Package (PMP) at par with members of the community who have migrated in early 90s. Kashmiri Pandit Sangarash Samiti (KPSS), President Sanjay Kumar Tickoo in a statement here this afternoon said that the court delivered the judgment on May 31 on a petition filed by the Samiti.
He said a petition was filed in 2013 seeking directions to Central and state governments to extend the benefits of PM package Kashmiri pandits who did not migrate in 90s and stayed back in the valley despite facing all odds. ''We want extension of PM employment package to valley based pandits,'' he said. He said the Central Government and others were made respondent in the petition in which a request was made that 561 Valley based Kashmiri Pandit community members be included and allowed to apply for jobs under the PM Package. He said the court has now directed the government to consider the claim of petitioners in accordance with the rules and take decision preferably within a period of six weeks from the date of order passed by the court. Mr Tickoo said a general body meeting of the valley based Kashmiri pandits is being held on Sunday at Shri Sidhi Vinayak Mandir, Ganpantyar in the old city to discuss future course of action for settlement and rehabilitation of the community members in Kashmir. Earlier, only unemployed youths of migrant pandit community were considered for employment under the package. Already 3000 have been employed under the package. |
